Green Screen Activity
In the activity you will be shooting footage to use with a green screen. The footage must be one of the following
- A weather report
- A news report
- A game show
Instructions
- Write a script, it should be brief (no more than 5 sentences). In your script include the location that it is taking place.
- When you are ready you will need to get the following
- A camera
- A tripod
- A portable green screen
- When you have verified that your equipment is ready to go. You will need to shoot your scene. Consider the following
- Level your tripod
- Secure your camera
- Set up the screen so that wrinkles are at a minimum and that lighting is consistent.
- When you start the camera, record a few extra seconds before and after as you will ensure that you have not missed anything (You can always edit this out)
- Make sure that your subject is properly framed, they should be fully in the frame without too much headroom, the background should only contain the green screen.
- Ensure that your actor/actress reads their lines with a loud and clear voice
- Clean up your equipment when you are done. If you have trouble folding the screen, ask for help.

Editing
1. Capture your footage into the computer. This method can vary depending on the type of equipment you are using.
2. With our cameras we can insert the SD card into the computer. Find the movie files with FINDER. Drag them to the desktop to copy them to the computer
3. Open iMovie and create a new project. Go to File---Import Movies, then import your clips
4. Find a background that you would like to use. Download the image by dragging it to the desktop.
2. Enable advance options in I-Movie. Go to iMovie Preferences, show
advanced tools
3. Place your image in your iMovie project
4. Drag your green screen clip over top
5. Trim, adjust, and edit

SHARE YOUR MOVIE
Go to share, select export to Quicktime or whatever format you want.
Assessment: The criteria for the project is as follows
- Quality of production
- Is the subject framed properly
- Is the sound clear
- Has the camera been used properly
- Editing
- Has the green screen effect been used correctly (includes colour correction)
- Have you added sound effects, titles, and credits
- Have you edited out any mistakes or unneeded parts.
