Soundscape 2016

Soundscape Overview

What is the project:  You are creating a collage of sounds using Garage Band or another software.  This collage sound of will form a soundscape for a specific place or theme.  The sounds need to be specific and represent what you may hear in the specific place or event.  

Example:  Chosen theme is a “Forest Night”.  The sounds you hear may include :
  • A Wolf Howl
  • Crickets
  • Rushing Water
  • Wind blowing
  • Birds Chirping
  • An Owl hooting

How to do it:  
  1. Create a plan on a planning sheet.  This should state the theme and around 20 specific sounds that will fit your project.
  2. Assemble the project in Garage Band.  You will need to
    1. Add Garage Band loops
    2. Create your own sounds with original recordings
    3. Add effects and change virtual instruments for your sounds
    4. Mix you audio volume levels.



Considered Criteria and Objectives:
  • A written plan
  • Approximately 30 seconds long
  • 5-10 audio tracks
  • Around 20 loops/sound samples
  • Some original recording
  • Volume levels mixed
  • Consistent theme or idea throughout
  • Some effects or virtual instruments have been applied




Timeline:
  • One class to plan and get started
  • One class with minor overview and time to finish
