Grade 7 Sound Recording Project

Sound Recording
In this assignment you will create a sound recording and then add special effects, loops, and samples, in order to create a dynamic piece of audio art!

This project will take a few classes to complete.

Instructions

1.  Choose something to record
-Choose one of the following
      • A poem (original or from an author)
      • A scene from a play (Either write it yourself or find one somewhere)
      • A Podcast (Write it yourself, break it into segments-An Introduction then a couple of topics). You should have a brief script. When you record you can break from the script.
  • The minimum length of your recording will be 30 seconds. If you go over 5 minutes, it is too long.
2. Write in some possible ideas for sound effects. Save these for later

2.  Record
-Use Adobe Audition or Garage Band
-Use a proper microphone with an audio interface.
-Speak in a clear manner, get close enough to the microphone, and watch out for back ground noise.
-Make sure that your audio input is set to the correct microphone. The iMacs are usually set to default to the web cam microphone. If you leave this setting you will likely get a low quality recording.

-Find at least five sound effects to use from the Apple sound effects on the computer or from websites such as Soundbible, Soundjay, or Soungle.
3.  Mix and edit your work.
-Find at least five sound effects to use from the Apple sound effects on the computer or from websites such as Soundbible, Soundjay, or Soungle.
-Adjust audio levels so that your voice is clear and easy to hear.

-Edit out any unwanted pieces of sound.
