Updated Sound Recording Project

Sound Recording
In this assignment you will create a sound recording and then add special effects, loops, and samples.

1.  Choose something to record
-Choose one of the following
    • A poem (original or from an author)
    • A scene from a play or movie (Either write it yourself or find one somewhere)
    • A Podcast (Write it yourself, break it into segments-When you record you can break from the script.
  • The minimum length of your recording will be 30 seconds.  If you go over 5 minutes, it is too long.
2.  Write in some possible ideas for sound effects.  Save these for later.  Try to have approximately 20 sounds.

3.  Record
-Use Adobe Audition, check with Mr. M on if you should use single or multi track
-Use a proper microphone with an audio interface.
-Speak in a clear manner, get close enough to the microphone, and watch out for background noise.
-Make sure that your audio input is set to the correct microphone.  The iMacs are usually set to default to the webcam microphone.  If you leave this setting you will likely get a low quality recording.
4.  Add sounds effects in a multitrack recording session in either Audition or Garage Band.  You can find creative commons royalty free sound effects online or in Garage Band.

5.  Mix and process your work.  Adjust volume levels so that sounds are clear and at the right volume.  Process sounds to add effect

6.  Export your project to MP3 or WAV
